Dutch Yoga Festival 2012

The Dutch Yoga Festival takes place from June 29th until July 1st 2012 at the Dutch island of Terschelling. Practice a wide variety of yoga styles in beautiful natural surroundings. Immerse in a relaxed yogic atmosphere at the sea side. Enjoy sun, sea and yoga.

Dutch Yoga Festival

This sixth unique festival in pure nature blends yoga and meditation with the characteristics of the Dutch island. The official program starts Friday June 29th at 17.30 and ends Sunday July 1st  at 15.30. There is also a pre festival program starting at Thursday June 28th and an after festival program until Monday.

Organization
The Yoga Festival is an initiative of the Yoga Festival Terschelling Foundation in cooperation with yoga schools, training institutes, the tourist bureau of Terschelling and Yogi Tea. Through the organizing of the yearly Yoga Festival the foundation’s mission is to promote and advance the practice of yoga to the international community.

Festival location
The festival will be held at camping site De Kooi on the Dutch island Terschelling. This natural area is magnificently situated next to the dunes, flanked by forest, a swimming lake and within walking/biking distance to the beach. Practice yoga at the sea side and in the dunes or yoga in one of the festival tents where delicious vegetarian meals are also served.

Program
This years festival programme offers the unique opportunity to practice various forms of yoga under the guidance of experienced and inspiring yoga teachers from all over the world. The theme of the festival 2012 is "Yoga of the Heart ". Yoga to connect with our heart and to shine.

The program offers a wide variety of yoga styles like Hatha, AcroYoga, Anusara, Ashtanga, Chakra, Vinyasa, Power, Kundalini, Raja Yoga as well as special workshops taught by inspiring international yoga teachers. The Yoga Festival as a source of inspiration for both beginners and experienced yogi’s to share experiences and create new ones.

Travel information
To travel to Terschelling take the ferry from Harlingen which is about 100 kilometers north of Amsterdam and 120 km from Schiphol, the airport of Amsterdam. When travelling by train, leave the train at the station Harlingen Haven which is about 7 minutes walking from the ferry terminal. The car parking area in Harlingen is about 8 minutes walking from the ferry. For more information about travelling to the festival, please click here

Rental bicycle
A rental bicycle is reserved for you when you arrive with the ferry on Terschelling. The bike rental will take your luggage to the festival site or wherever you stay free of charge

Prices
The fee for the Dutch Yoga Festival 2012 is € 195,- per person. This includes all workshops, classes, live music and staying on the festival site, breakfast, lunch, dinner, fruit, Yogi Tea, VAT & a rental bike.

About the workshops
There is wide variety of yoga styles at the festival, such as diverse styles of Hatha yoga like Anusara Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Dru yoga, Kundalini yoga, AcroYoga, Ashtanga yoga, Chakra yoga, Power yoga and Vinyasa yoga under the guidance of expert yoga teachers. Yoga with attention to posture, movement, breath, music, mantra, relaxation and meditation. Moreover there are workshops in combination with dance, voice, massage, meditation and philosophy. The Yoga Festival for total vitality, harmony, meditation, transformation and intense joy.

yoga terschelling   Peter van der Burg (1971) is an international certified yoga teacher and on behalf of the foundation the initiator of the Dutch Yoga Festival. He practises with a lot of enthousiasm various forms of yoga such as Hatha yoga, Anusara yoga, Kundalini yoga as well as different dynamic forms of yoga and Kriya yoga and meditation. David Lurey

 

David Lurey (USA) teaches yogaworkshops all over the world. He is an international highly rated yogateacher and teacher trainer. His classes are a blending of an active asana practise in combination with lifemusic that deepens the breath and creates a tremendous flow. Deborah Neubauer   Deborah Neubauer (USA) is known as a very inspiring, warm-hearted and excellent Ausara Yoga teacher trainer for more than a decade. Her classes are technically very clear, spiritual and highly inspiring. Through her guidance every yogaclass becomes an exploration into the art of revealing of the light of one’s true essence and the cultivation of the skill of unfolding one’s inner being and purpose as an act of joyful service in and for the world. Clayton Horton   Clayton Horton is an highly appreciated Ashtanga teacher. He has been a student of yoga for over 22 years and is a student of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and the Greensufi. His practice is deeply rooted in the Ashtanga Tradition and daily meditation. Clayton received Formal Authorization to teach Ashtanga Yoga from the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute of Mysore, South India in 2003. He teaches workshops, trainings and retreats all over the world. Smriti  

Smriti Chakravarti, India’s Yogini, has her own yoga center in the holy Indian city of Varanasi. She is the grand daughter of Ananda May Ma, the spiritual partner of Parmahamsa Yogananda, author of the bestseller Autobiography of a Yogi. She speaks Sanskrit, studied Indian history, philosophy and Hindi at the Banaras Hindu University and succeeded in healing herself by shatkarma (purifying yogic techniques). Daniel Strausser   Daniel Strausser (Sweden) is a yoga teacher trainer from Malmö and lived many years in Kumoun in the Indian Himalaya. He was initiated into the ancient brotherhood of Himalayan yogis. He has studied Yoga at Bernaras Hindu University in Varanassi (India) and have taken full Brahmachari training. He practiced all modern styles of yoga and writes articles in the main Swedish magazine as a spokesman for Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin yoga. For more information visit: www.yogakendra.se.
Jayendra Hanley   Jayendra Hanley (USA) has studied and practiced hatha yoga and meditation for 30 years, the last 15 with John Friend. Jayendra was one of the first to become certified as a teacher of Anusara® yoga. Currently living in Holland, he offers weekend workshops and year-long teacher trainings to dedicated Anusara® yoga students in many parts of the world. martijn hoogstra

 

Martyn Hoogstra is a yoga teacher professional for more than 15 years and a dedicated practitioner of Hatha yoga. For a wide range of yoga teacher trainings he frequently appears as a guest trainer. He leads intensive yoga trainings and master classes (inter)nationally. He is extremely competent in Asanas, Pranayamas, Mudras & Bandhas and has a broad working knowledge of  yoga and meditation. Yogadreams   Myrna and Duncan run together their own yoga studio, Yoga Dreams, in Zaandam. At the festival Myrna will give Prana flow energetic vinyasa and a relaxing stress-relief. Duncan gives Ashtanga yoga and Slow Yoga Fat Burn and also Thai yoga massage. They will also have various yoga items for sale during the festival such as yoga clothing, mats, bags and cd’s. Eva de Haan

 

Eva de Haan (1967) is a certified Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga teacher who has had the blessing of studying and training in India. She has her own vibrant and dynamic yoga studio in the heart of Leiden, Holland. Each week her studio offers more than 25 varied forms of yoga lessons ranging from Ashtanga yoga, Vinyasa yoga, Power yoga, Hatha yoga and Partner yoga. Hillary Menting  

Hilary Menting Brown (USA) is the founder of Yoga Moves in Utrecht. She is a certified Iyengar & Vinyasa yoga teacher. She has studied with numerous known and unknown yogis to whom she is ever grateful. Her workshops will follow the natural krama or stages of opening the areas usually tight, open to the sky above, feel supported by the core and the ground beneath to experience love for movement and expression! Dieke Bikker

 

Iris Martinez and Dieke Bikker, both certified teachers of Acroyoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga. They will give together six Acroyoga workshops during the festival. This is a fusion of the spiritual practice of yoga, the loving touch of Thai massage and the power of acrobatics. Indra Bose  

Indra Bose is an internationally certified Hatha yoga teacher. Yoga reconnected her with her father’s homeland India. She has gained most of her yoga experience (University level teacher training) in India and Thailand. The Chakra yoga she teaches originates from the ancient Indian & Tibetan Tantra traditions. Yoga opens her heart and connects her to the essence. Sharing yoga is still a life changing experience and her continuous source of inspiration!

Kyra de Vreeze

 

Kyra de Vreeze is a graduate of natural medicine and a certified Asthanga Vinyasa yoga instructor. She gives dynamic yoga classes, workshops in Ayurvedic nutrition, juice fasting programs and cleansing diets. During the festival she will be giving workshops in Ayurvedic nutrition whereby you can get find out which foods, according to this ancient traditional Indian health science, best match your own constitution. Michael, Golden Temple

 

Michael van Maasdijk, a certified Kundalini yoga teacher, musician and owner of the Golden Temple Restaurant on the Utrechtsestraat 126 in Amsterdam. From early in the morning till late in the evening he along with other musicians will be playing inspiring life music, with movement, passion, and warmth in and around the tipi where the fire burns. Marlies de Kort

 

Marlies de Kort (1975), a certified Iyengar yoga teacher in Amsterdam, has given yoga lessons at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Amsterdam and elsewhere. She has studied yoga for many years at different yoga ashrams in India where under 3 months by Iyengar himself. Christine Hariang Michon (1948) is owner of her own yoga center in Enschede and for more than 30 years she has been giving yoga lessons. She instructs Hatha yoga and Kundalini yoga. She is also the head of the KRI Kundalini yoga teacher training school in Enschede. She is author of various books and publications about yoga and nutrition including The Green Diet. Shadow yoga

 

Nicolet Montanius gives Shadow yoga. This is an athletic form of Hatha yoga and is made up of series, that are a combination of various warrior and sun-salutation poses. The postures of each series are connected together in a dynamic and organic manner. Each series is a composition that gives attention to the breath, power, flexibility, condition, and concentration. Olav Aarts

 

Olav Aarts Works as a religion sociologist at the University of Nijmegen and gives classic Hatha yoga at the universities sport center. He has a broad scientific knowledge in the fields of philosophy and the history of yoga. During the festival he will give classic yoga lessons and give a lively philosophy lesson over the origin of yoga paying special attention to the sutras of Patanjali.
