The Yoga Festival on the Dutch island of Terschelling is pure enjoyment. This unique Yoga Festival takes place from Friday the 25 th till Sunday the 27th of June 2010. It is possible to come a day earlier and/or stay a day later.
A wide variety of yogaforms can be experienced in brilliant outdoor surroundings with inspiring yoga teachers and other enthusiastic participants. One can unwind and enjoy the sun, the sea, the beach and yoga in a beautiful environment.
The Yoga Festival is an initiative of the Yoga Festival Terschelling Foundation in cooperation with diverse yoga schools, training institutes, the tourist bureau of Terschelling and Yogi Tea. Through the organizing of the yearly Yoga Festival the foundation’s mission is to promote and advance the practice of yoga to the international community.
This festival offers the unique occasion to immerse oneself into the many forms of yoga practice and to experience the different aspects of yoga in the beauty of the natural surroundings and in a relaxed yoga way. Competent teachers and recognized schools give yoga lessons and provide special workshops for everyone from the beginner to the advanced yogi and everyone in between.
The festival takes place on a lovely nature terrain that is situated in the sand dunes of the island of Terschelling. The terrain is furnished with various festival tents for the practising of yoga and yoga lessons, the workshops, communal meals and other activities.
The programme
The official festival programme starts at Friday 25 th of june at 5:30 pm and ends Sunday the 27 th at 3:30 pm. Arriving earlier on Thursday and/or staying till Monday is recommended. The prefestival programm with inspiring classes allready starts at Thursday!
The festival offers the unique opportunity to practice various forms of yoga in the middle of the gorgeous nature of the island Terschelling under the guidance of experienced and inspiring yoga teachers from all over the world.
Substance of the workshops
Yoga is about movement of energy by use of the breath, concentration, awareness, meditation, asana's, music and being consciousness. This festival offers the unique opportunity to emerse in a relax yogic atmosphere near the ocean. To practise various forms of yoga and experience the fruits. Certified and inspiring teachers will teach yoga and offer special workhops for advanced and more beginning practisioners of yoga.
There is a varied offering of different forms of yoga at the festival, such as diverse styles of Hatha yoga, Kundalini yoga, Acro yoga, Ashtanga yoga, Chakra yoga, Dru yoga, Laughter yoga, Power yoga and Vinyasa yoga under the instruction and guidance of expert yoga teachers. Furthermore there are diverse yoga workshops in combination with dance, voice, massage and meditation.
Yoga with attention to posture, movement, breathing, music, mantra, relaxation and meditation are all aspects that can be found within the workshops. Yoga for total vitality, harmony, meditation, transformation and to intensely enjoy ones self.

Peter van der Burg (1971) is an international certified yoga teacher and on behalf of the foundation the initiator of the Yoga Festival.
